The MONKEYS ON MARS project, bringing together all the musicians from the heavy psych bands Mars Red Sky and Monkey3, will release a new video clip for their 13-minute track “Hear The Call” on Wednesday, March 4.
Directed by Seb Antoine, the “Hear The Call” video includes images from the film Time Machine (1960) as well as live footage shot by Seb Antoine and Antoine Duclos at the Westill Festival in October 2025. We land in a universe that is at once apocalyptic, retro-futuristic, and a little crazy, which will serve (among other things) as the backdrop for the concerts on their tour, which kicks off in France next week.
These evenings, let's not forget, bring together three bands on stage for nearly two hours of non-stop show: Monkey3, Mars Red Sky, and Monkeys On Mars. A set by Mars Red Sky with Monkey3 as guests, followed by a set by Monkey3 with Mars Red Sky as guests, followed by a set by Monkeys On Mars. The order of Mars Red Sky and Monkey3 may change depending on the date, but Monkeys On Mars will always close the evening. No breaks!
Much more than just an artistic collaboration, the MONKEYS ON MARS project literally merges the worlds of two heavy psych/prog projects that are as dark as they are dreamlike. The sophisticated atmospheres of French trio MARS RED SKY, carried by an ethereal voice and tortured melodies, meet the progressive breaks, hypnotic grooves, and colossal riffs of Swiss band MONKEY3. The eponymous EP consists of two space-prog tracks lasting 11 and 13 minutes, marked by the pachydermic power of the rhythm section (two drums, two basses). Only the track “Seasonal Pyres” features the crystalline vocals of Julien Pras, voice of Mars Red Sky, while “Hear The Call” is entirely instrumental. The EP “Monkeys On Mars” was recorded by Guillaume Desboeufs (Monkey3) at The Missing Link studio (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Benjamin Mandeau (recording and mixing) at Cryogene studio (Bègles, France). It was mastered by Alexis Bardinet at Globe Audio studio in Bordeaux. The record was released on October 17, 2025, via Mrs Red Sound on vinyl, CD, and digitally.
