VOIDHÄMMER "Noxious Emissions" 2026

Although VOIDHÄMMER hails from sunny California (at least, that's how we always perceive it in old Europe), their sound is, in my opinion, much more akin to that of Sweden (snowy this time—another European cliché? Surely!)... This dirty, disgusting, cavernous, sticky, filthy, and repulsive sound plunges me back with undisguised pleasure into the glorious days of the Swedish scene and bands such as NIHILIST, early ENTOMBED, REPUGNANT, early UNLEASHED, TRAUMATIC, CARNAGE, GRAVE... Ultra-heavy riffs coupled with screeching blasts, nauseating guitars, unhealthy solos, very deep voices from beyond the grave, all with a hint of primitive punk (an element also found in the bands mentioned above) and touches of grind-core... The whole thing is massive, you feel crushed under the decibels, suffocating in the midst of sordid and morbid atmospheres... It's the opposite of today's overproduced, overly clean and technically flawless productions... VOIDHÄMMER is the most primitive expression of death metal, where instinct and emotion take precedence over all other considerations... VOIDHÄMMER does not seek to please, there are no frills or romanticism, it expels the unhealthy, it purges the malaise... 
Admittedly, VOIDHÄMMER doesn't invent anything new... except that they do it with great skill and a very sharp sense of composition. Of the four tracks on “Noxious Emissions,” nothing is to be discarded, nothing is there for show, nothing is superfluous. They know how to get to the point—it's direct, uncompromising—just like in the early days of the genre! And for that alone, this band is worth checking out! Whether you're nostalgic for the style or always eager to discover more, in either case, you'll revel in this band's first production, which is perfect in every way!
