When I reviewed Skyway’s EP "Never Disappear" in 2024, I had already singled out this Buffalo trio as a band to watch: a raw, high-energy group whose rhythm felt more like a heartbeat than a marketing trend. Fast forward to 2025 (Sorry for the “time lag”—Ouch!): their new EP, “Time To Be Alive,” is the explosive payoff we’ve been waiting for. If “Never Disappear” was their statement of intent, this 5-track EP is its perfect realization.
The formula hasn’t changed, but it’s certainly been refined. Skyway strikes the perfect balance between the rebellious, brash energy of early Green Day and the infectious, stadium-ready choruses of Blink-182. From the opening chords of “Marie” to the title track of this release, the band amplifies that raw, basement-born power that made their previous album so captivating. The guitars are more powerful, and the vocal harmonies exude a provocative urgency reminiscent of The Offspring at their best: fast, loud, and uncompromising.
What stands out here is resilience. While “Never Disappear” explored the struggle to stay relevant, “Time To Be Alive” gives the impression of a band that has found a second wind. It’s stripped of the overly polished digital sheen that plagues modern pop-punk, opting instead for a visceral “garage concert” vibe. It’s skate-park music for true fans, proving that the Buffalo scene is hitting harder than ever right now.
A flawless evolution since “Never Disappear.” Louder, faster, and more essential than ever.

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI, AGNOSTIC FRONT... quickly leading him to explore THRASH METAL and CROSSOVER styles (SLAYER, EXODUS, KREATOR, VOIVOD, ANTHRAX, S.O.D., TESTAMENT...) and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Not to mention the DEATH-METAL/GRIND-CORE wave (DEATH, MORBID ANGEL, MORGOTH, NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER...)...
Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back !
