SIGNIFICANT POINT "Into The Storm" 2021

Yes, here it is ! Finally the long-awaited debut album by japanese HEAVY METAL heroes SIGNIFICANT POINT is now OUT ! I was already impressed when I discovered them years ago with their debut 2014 demo and even more some years later in 2018 when they released the "Attacker" EP - the band already showed an impressive potential when it comes to play hi-class old-school Heavy-Metal (if you dig early Iron Maiden, Loudness, old-MSG) .. but NOW - it's clear they worked really hard and they take their music to another level !
This is a mix of classical heavy-metal mixed with speed-metal fury, the whole being always fast, catchy, very technical and melodic !
In my opinion, the thing that will first blow your ears is the guitar works.. Both guitarists Gou Takeushi and Kazuki Kuwagaki are crazy axemen - wasting NO time unleashing Iron Maiden-like guitar duels - at full speed, constantly trying to outperform themselves - it's technically impressive but musically coherent with a high sense for melody - just in the purest & most noble HEAVY METAL tradition.. i guess MURRAY/SMITH or TIPTON/DOWNING would be impressed as well !!
Speaking of the rhythmical work.. it is solid as fuck ! Tight and intense drum work - this is the backbone of the album, solid & efficient while the bass work brings depth and a certain warmth to the content of this album !
At last, but not least.. the vocal job is here .. how could I say.... huh ! IMPRESSIVE ! Not sure George Itoh is/will be a permanent band member as he is credited as "guest vocalist" on this album, but this guy breathes HEAVY METAL ! Of course, you have to be a true HEAVY METAL warrior to appreciate his soaring high-pitched singing style, but to me, this guy is as impressive as a certain Bruce Dickinson or Michael Kiske in their prime - he knows how to vary the intonations to make the choruses catchy and his power is one of the major assets of this album !
In a word, this "Into The Storm" is one of the best HEAVY METAL albums released this year.. and it's clear that it buries a large majority of the current productions of the style - this is so passionate, authentic, TRUE (for the PASSION not the FASHION - as my friend Marco would YELL it !), that I'm sure you'll stick to this album for a very long time and even after, you will come back listening to it very regularly ! A MUST-HAVE for all Heavy Metal Maniacs around !
