14 tracks in 35 minutes, it goes fast, it's energetic, no time to intellectualize, it's “in your face” all the way...
Raging, with mostly shouted lyrics that cover everything that's wrong with the world (power-hungry politicians, the 1%, dying democracies...), perfect for singing along with your fist in the air! You can just imagine yourself in front of the band on stage, screaming your lungs out against the system!
Musically, I'm not going to tell you that it's super elaborate or super polished... it's still very rootsy punk rock, basic but really enjoyable! The tracks flow into each other with a tendency to sound a bit similar at times, with influences such as ANTI-NOWHERE LEAGUE, GBH, ANTISEEN, THE RAMONES, but dirtier and more abrasive, but the fun is still there! It's effective and does the job when it comes to street punk rock... There are some tracks that really stand out, such as “Democracy Dies In Darkness,” “Social Claustrophobia” (very aggressive), “They Lie to Me,” “We Are Doomed,” and “Fire,” which closes the album... So, yes, EXHAUSTED COCKS aren't reinventing anything or bringing anything new to the style, but I don't think that was their intention in the first place... It's just the pleasure of playing dirty, angry punk rock and being able to share in — and regarding that, they've succeeded! Give it a listen!
