Two years ago, I wrote a review about the first DEATH WHORE release, in which I praised their abilities in delivering a brutal, violent and uncompromised mix of what both Death Metal and Hard-Core have to offer and precisely bands like BOLT THROWER/ENTOMBED for their heavy and groovy sides but also HATEBREED or ROTTEN SOUND for their violent and straight-in-your-face approaches ! This new opus, as its predecessor is a short format, 4 songs for a duration below 15 minutes, and as its predecessor, is a concentrate of sonic violence with heavy, suffocating, hammering and brutal atmospheres ! Musically, no radical change with this new opus, but it is clear that the musicians seem even more comfortable to develop their style with some small discreet experiments here and there in the guitars riffs ("Condemned to Breathe" with this dissonant riff - for example) and perhaps also the will for much heavier breaks than what they were on the first opus, like this unhealthy "Le Droit à L'Asphyxie" (Yes, it is in french, while the 3 others are in english) perfectly illustrates this, with its bass/drums intro, and its crushing guitar riff that leaves any doubt about the desire to laminate everything.
In short, "Total Teutonic Torso" brings you the best of DEATH METAL and HARD-CORE and confirms DEATH WHORE's abilities to produce brutal, uncompromising and unhealthy music and until we can see them back with (hopefully) a full-length album, I can only encourage you to get your ears on their music !
Follow the Band
Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
