ABLAZE "Slow Death" 2026
- Label: Self-released
- Format: CD/Digital
- Release Date: 06.02.2026
Hailing from Portugal, ABLAZE is not your typical calculated studio project; it is a sonic exorcism born out of sheer necessity and pandemic-induced isolation. Featuring members of the post-hardcore outfit Pledge, this post-hardcore/metalcore trio has managed to bottle the pure, unfiltered tension of a collapsing world into four devastating tracks. "Slow Death" acts as a dark, inward-looking mirror, rejecting modern overproduction in favor of controlled sonic violence and chaotic unpredictability. From the moment the lead single “Martyr” hits, the ghost of early 2000s heavyweights like CONVERGE, BOTCH, and POISON THE WELL immediately comes alive. André Cardoso’s savage vocal performance—marking his fierce return to the microphone after a decade of silence—adds a desperate, razor-sharp layer of anxiety and guilt to Hugo Martins' claustrophobic, heavy riffs.
The beauty of this EP lies in its refusal to play safe. While many bands get lost in technicality, ABLAZE focuses on the "heartbeat" of the riff, delivering a masterclass in dissonant energy and rhythmic shifts that hit like a physical weight. It is a display of top-tier aggression, blending the urgency of the old school with a modern, nihilistic bite that feels both nostalgic and terrifyingly current. It’s a relentless 10-minute journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche, executed with a level of maturity only veterans of the scene could achieve. Available on CD as well as digital, this is a tangible statement of intent from a band that knows exactly how to make pain sound beautiful. If you crave music that is as intellectually stimulating as it is punishingly heavy, "Slow Death" is your new soundtrack !
