For more than a decade, KORRUPT have been turning the tensions of life on Norway’s south coast into abrasive, confrontational hardcore. On October 30, 2026, the Kristiansand five-piece return with their third full-length, "The Weight We Carry", released via Holler Records digitally and on vinyl LP.
Following 2023’s acclaimed "Secret Sorrows", the nine-track album sharpens Korrupt’s blackened, riff-heavy hardcore while confronting religion, social control and the burdens we inherit and carry with us.
Formed in Kristiansand in 2013, Korrupt emerged from the city’s small hardcore scene. Growing up in a region historically shaped by conservative Christian culture left its mark, with organised religion, social control and the watchfulness of small-town life repeatedly finding their way into the band’s music.
"The Weight We Carry" pushes that confrontation further, exploring the ideas, expectations, fears and pressures people inherit, absorb and ultimately have to decide whether to accept or reject.
Across tracks such as “Narrative Warfare,” “Being, Paranoid”, “Devoted to the Grave,” “Totalitarian” and sprawling closer “I Am the Soil,” Korrupt channel those tensions into a volatile collision of hardcore urgency, blackened aggression and crushing riffs. Musically, comrades Kvelertak may provide the overall reference point, but there are equally strong traces of Turbonegro’s infectious hooks and Comeback Kid’s hardcore energy, all dragged through the frostbitten aggression of Immortal.
Their 2017 debut," Preachers and Creatures", released through Fysisk Format, attracted international attention from Metal Injection, Metal Underground and New Noise Magazine, while Germany’s Visions ranked it #20 on its albums-of-the-year list.
Six years later, "Secret Sorrow"s pushed the band further. In March 2023, Norwegian daily Stavanger Aftenblad awarded it a perfect 6/6, declaring that the standard for the year’s best record had already “been set.”
Three years on, "The Weight We Carry" continues that evolution: five musicians channelling the frustration, unease and resistance that have always fuelled Korrupt into their next uncompromising statement.
