NN "Peccato" 2023

NN is a hardcore band formed in 2019 by four long-time friends from the province of Vicenza/Italy, who in the past have shared the same stages or musical projects in bands such as Carlito, Csch, The Nutries, IxGOTxI, Armenta. I have to say that I'm not familiar with any of these bands... Oops ! So let's get straight to the musical content of this first album, released at the end of 2023, whose energy and raw, direct sound immediately remind me of two Italian legends, NEGAZIONE and RAW POWER... does this ring a bell to you a bit more now ? The emphasis is on energy, but this can only be effective if it's well measured and balanced by breaks and slower tempos here and there, which NN do very well... None of the 10 tracks on offer here lag behind the others, and once again, the band get straight to the point and don't bother with unnecessary breaks, the tracks averaging around 2 minutes, so it's a case of ‘the shorter, the better’. And isn't that the very essence of HardCore music? That cathartic effect that requires PHYSICAL exertion - on the part of both musicians and listeners.
It's everything I love about this kind of music, made with guts, blood and sweat! Their music blends the elements of punk, hardcore and metal - old-school style - with a certain ease and without embarrassment.
Vocally, too, it's an outstanding performance, with snarling, aggressive vocals that do the job perfectly - without lapsing into growls or incomprehensible howls... maintaining a crazy intensity from start to finish! Well-done guys !
For fans of RAW POWER, NEGAZIONE, CRO-MAGS, OFF!, CIRCLE JERKS... old-school hardcore !
