Another perfect evening at the 1001 Bières venue ! One thing's for sure : you can go there with your eyes closed, as 1001 Bières has a knack for putting together top-quality line-ups featuring bands you've never heard of, and who will undoubtedly surprise you!
Tonight's line-up, featuring two Belgian bands - KA'UNA and ATOMIC VULTURE - is no exception to the rule !
KA'UNA is the first of the bands to take to the stage, offering up some very interesting “post-metal” music! There's the heaviness of CULT OF LUNA, ISIS or NEUROSIS, with a touch of melancholy that reminds me of KATATONIA ! The set is well structured, and the tracks keep us in a dark, heavy and sad atmosphere, between ethereal passages and sonic devastation ! We let ourselves be carried along without resistance by the different musical phases made up of opposed atmospheres which make KA'UNA's music very captivating ! Unfortunately, I can't say much more than that, as I didn't know the band before tonight, but they left me with a strong impression, as their performance was solid and square, and really punchy - this band has real potential and motivation! A must-see - and a must-discover !
Second band of the evening - ATOMIC VULTURE, who play 100% instrumental psychedelic stoner rock ! The trio takes to the stage with an incredible ease and raw energy, unleashing an avalanche of riffs, solos and breaks of all kinds, going off in all directions, confusing - but hey it's so much fun ! We go from hyper-heavy passages to others that are completely soaring and ethereal ! Each track is a sonic experiment in discovery and transcendence ! ATOMIC VULTURE is truly a LIVE experience - enigmatic melodies, hypnotic rhythms, a journey beyond terrestrial boundaries ! The 3 friends perform their set with palpable, infectious joy, leaving the audience, who weren't expecting it, on its knees! Intense Cosmic trip !
The only negative note of the evening... the lack of audience... Guys - girls ! Where are you ? What are you doing ? The real scene has to be lived in real life, with real musicians in front of you, not on your computer, not through a screen - get out there, live the moments - there are still real places for real good music ! What the f**k are we waiting for ?

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
