For more than a decade, CAMICHES have stood at the forefront of Mexico City's independent punk and hardcore scene. The band have release their highly anticipated new full-length album "El Dolor de lo Irremediable" ("The Grief of the Irreversible"), a powerful ten-song collection that further cements their reputation as the architects of what they proudly call "Feeling Core."
A term coined by the band themselves, "Feeling Core" captures the essence of Camiches' distinctive sound: the intensity and urgency of punk and hardcore intertwined with nostalgia, melancholy, acoustic textures, and deeply personal storytelling. Throughout their career, Camiches have built a devoted following by proving that emotional vulnerability and musical power are not opposing forces, but complementary ones.
Produced by brothers Ramsés and Sinuhé López, El Dolor de lo Irremediable explores grief, memory, resilience, love, mental health, and the realities of growing up in Latin America. Across ten songs, the album moves between deeply personal reflections and broader social observations, creating what may be the band's most mature and emotionally expansive release to date.
The album's themes range from heartbreak and self-worth on "Te Tengo Que Olvidar," to empathy and social responsibility on "Polvo de Nadie," a song inspired by homelessness and Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot. Elsewhere, "08500" reflects on childhood and working-class life in Mexico City's Agrícola Oriental neighborhood, while "El Amor No Dicho" serves as a moving tribute to the unconditional love of a beloved dog.
Other standout moments include the emotionally charged "Las Manchas de Tu Brazo Izquierdo," which confronts loss and unresolved grief, the reflective "El Círculo de la Tristeza," an intimate meditation on depression and isolation, and "La Fuerza de Mis Miedos," a deeply personal anthem about finding strength through adversity. The album closes with "La Secta de los Que Extrañamos," a heartfelt tribute to the López brothers' grandmother and the enduring presence of loved ones who are no longer physically with us.
Since forming in 2012, Camiches have become one of the most respected bands in Mexico's underground punk community. Guided by a steadfast DIY ethic and influenced by punk rock, hardcore, folk, and melodic skate punk, the band has toured extensively throughout Mexico, the United States, Canada, Central America, Panama, and Colombia. Their growing international profile eventually led them to sign with Wiretap Records, helping further strengthen the cultural bridge between the Mexican and North American punk scenes.
The band's roots remain deeply connected to community and self-determination. In addition to their DIY approach, brothers Ramsés and Sinuhé maintain close ties to Straight Edge culture, embracing a philosophy centered on introspection, personal growth, and positive community engagement.
With "El Dolor de lo Irremediable", Camiches continue pushing beyond the traditional boundaries of punk, delivering a record that is as emotionally devastating as it is uplifting. It is a celebration of resilience, a confrontation with loss, and ultimately, a reminder that even in life's most difficult moments, connection remains possible.
