ERÖSZAKSZERVEZET - Punk, Raw and Unfiltered ... (Hungary - Raw Punk - Interview with Zsuzsi and Ádám).
Express interview to help you discover as many of today's most interesting bands as possible - this time, ERÖSZAKSZERVEZET, Punk from Debrecen/Hungary - Interview with Zsuzsi (Vocals) and Ádám (Vocals/Guitar).

Hello ! Can you introduce yourself and tell us how it all began for you - your encounter with this musical universe, what appealed to you, what fascinated you and what made you want to get into music?
Zsuzsi: I’ve loved music ever since I was a little kid. When I was 13 I heard punk for the first time, and I instantly knew this is what’s meant for me. Raw, energetic, primitive, but it still has something to say. My personality is kind of like that too. And honestly, I never grew out of it, neither the personality nor the punk music.
We grew up in Debrecen and we still live here. It’s the second biggest city in Hungary, but about ten times smaller than the capital, Budapest. Ádám and I met when we were 14. We were running around the city being punks together, basically growing up side by side. We both moved to Budapest and other places for a few years, but somehow we both drifted back to Debrecen. It’s a pretty boring city, and we were bored in our early twenties, so we started making music. Rehearsals were mostly just an excuse to hang out and drink. Back then we didn’t take it too seriously, we were just a garage band.
Ádám: I think for most of us it all started when we got our hands on a good cassette with some cool punk music on it. When you’re young, there are a thousand reasons to feel like something’s seriously wrong with the world. Just look at the so-called wise men, look what they’re doing to it! Some people say everything’s fine and all we’re supposed to do is work, shop, and then drop dead.
Picking up a guitar, playing drums, writing lyrics...that’s a good feeling. Instruments coming together, making some kind of melody and a bit of harmony..that’s a pretty great thing.

Tell me about the band... How you met - the current line-up - past experiences - and above all - WHY the need to form THIS band?
Ádám: There’s no big story about how we met. It’s just four people who love when the music is blasting in the rehearsal room and at shows. For a band to actually come together, everyone obviously has to love music enough to want to make it themselves. And then there’s the message… kids from the block - rappers or safety-pin punk kids - often write lyrics full of big ideas, packed into sharp, clever rhymes.
Zsuzsi: Back around 2014 in our "early era" we played a show in a local bar, and somehow after that there were no more rehearsals. We just dropped it, everyone went on living their lives. Then in 2022 Ádám got bored again and called the old lineup to ask if we felt like making music again.
By then we were older and started approaching things very differently. We had goals, we had a plan. We wanted to break out of the garage and let people actually hear what we sound like. That’s the point where I count the real birth of the band. From then it started moving in a clear direction and it had real potential. And I think it still does.
In the meantime, the political and social situation in Hungary has gotten a lot worse, and the counterculture has started to stir again. We’re trying to add our own little piece to that.

And since hungarian language is not so common, what's behind the name "Erőszakszervezet" ?
Zsuzsi: The word Erőszakszervezet is a Hungarian compound word, and there isn’t really a direct English translation for it, I can only explain it. It basically means the state’s armed forces—police, military, secret services, and so on.. We kind of adopted it as an ironic, twisted form of criticism, but Ádám could probably explain it better, since he originally came up with the name. One thing’s for sure: in Hungarian it really makes people’s ears perk up when they hear or read it. As a band name it’s pretty provocative, cause 'erőszak' means violence, this is a heavy world.
And foreigners usually can’t even pronounce it. 😅 (I even struggled to write it 😅 ! - Ed)
Ádám: I first came across the term erőszakszervezet when I was young, in a book by Bakunin. It talked about how the state’s coercive forces (police, soldiers) are what maintain and defend the power of the state, its institutions, and its leaders. At the same time, the term as a collective label could also include groups like Cuban or Uruguayan insurgents. That’s where the inspiration came from, I thought it would be a pretty drastic choice for a band name.

Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
Zsuzsi: Our music has been mostly influenced by classic punk hardcore and Latino anarcho-punk. But in our current lineup, all four of us like different directions of punk, or even beyond it, so a weird mix has come out of our collaboration. If someone listens to our album, they’ll hear that each song is a bit different, but the overall sound is unmistakably Erőszakszervezet. If you ask 10 fans which song is their favorite, you’ll probably get 10 different answers, because everyone connects with something different. We actually love that variety.
Ádám: We’re not trying to convince anyone that they should listen to us. We just say: if you’re already fed up with the radio and the comfort of mainstream taste, maybe you’ll like what we do. And if it’s not us, there’s tons of other underground bands and scenes out there, find your thing.

Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ?
Zsuzsi: Our music is very lyric-focused. Most of our songs are social critiques, ripping into the power elite, or spreading anti-capitalist ideas. The band and the music is a megaphone for our thoughts.
Ádám: We mostly write about social and political stuff. Politics is part of our lives, whether you like it or not, it’s everywhere. Even people who try to calculate the GDP based on how many cars are in supermarket parking lots, or who form their view of the world from TikTok and Reels, are taking a side.
Within that, every song has different topic:
If the bank took your house: Dinamit
If overconsumption and shopping annoy you: Delfin
If you hate the political elite and feel that anger burning inside: Anarchista kiáltvány (Anarchist Manifesto)
If you’re dealing with inner dissonance: Kényszerzubbony  (Straitjacket)
If you’re sinking a little into yourself: Hol a helyed  (Where’s Your Place)
If you’re shocked by inflation and the currency system: Szart se ér a forintom (My Forint’s Worth Shit)
Every track takes a clear stand on something.

About your latest release ?
Zsuzsi: Over the past four years, we’ve been releasing new songs roughly every six months. With all the touring, we didn’t have a chance to think about a full album. Our first real album came out in December 2025, and it’s available on CD too. It includes the best songs from the last four years, plus completely new tracks. If you want to get to know the band’s work so far, this is the album to check out. It’s called Kataklizma and you can find it on Bandcamp and Spotify.
Ádám: We used to record our songs DIY-style, but the latest batch was done in a studio in Budapest. I love every single minute of the recording process.

Future plans?
Zsuzsi: To bring down the Orbán government! And doing European tours. Considering we sing in our native language,  surprisingly a lot of people listen to us across Europe, and even in South America (though honestly, we probably won’t ever make it there 😄).

Your most insane dream with the band would be ?
Zsuzsi: If we ever get to play as the opening band for The Exploited, then we can finally hang up our instruments 😄 (Wattie, if you read this... hehe... - Ed)

Your BEST & WORST concert - as a band - and why ?
Ádám: There’s no bad show, maybe we just don’t play as well as we could. Lately, everyone in the band gives their all. We try to play what we practiced in the rehearsal room… and then we see what happens.

Next live-appearance(s) ?
Zsuzsi: Club shows, and then a few festivals over the summer. The usual, touring around the country.

Some words on your local scene - bands you're friends with and you'd like to name ?
Zsuzsi: There are a lot of underground punk bands in Hungary. In Budapest, you can choose from 3–4 different shows on a single weekend. That’s why we purposely go to Budapest less often. But we’ve toured the countryside a lot over the past years and we love it!
Ádám: We’ve made friends with many bands we enjoy playing with, and from experience they enjoy playing with us too. But we don’t give free promotion by mentioning names. If someone gets left out by accident in the excitement of an interview, it could cause offense 🙂.

Last word is yours !
