Express interview to help you discover as many of today's most interesting bands as possible - this time, NORNES, Atmo-Doom Metal from France - Interview with Rom (Vocals/Guitar).

Hello, please introduce yourself and let us know how it all began ?
It all started in 2018 with Julien when we decided to start a Doom band out of the ashes of an unsuccessful Death Thrash band.
We found a second guitarist and a drummer and started writing the "vanity" EP. The line-up remained stable until the Covid-period, when we produced our second EP "Threads" on SLEEPING CHURCH Records. Since then, Adri has joined on guitar and Noé on drums. New line-up, new opportunities to explore the depths of Doom !

Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
It's french... and honestly, the french scene is talented ! We just come back from a mini-tour with our friends BARABBAS and SUPERTZAR, who have both a sound on their own. Otherwise, listening to our music means taking the time to appreciate the length of the tracks and the haunting atmospheres we aim to produce.

Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ?
Our inspirations come from our past lives and the projection towards our future as destiny. We seek to express the logic of our existence through the ages and the writings of the Ancients that can help us cope with the ravages of time. We try to release our own catharsis with a note for Hope !

Best concert was in Cherbourg for a show brought by BRING THE MOSH association. Great welcome, great sound & atmosphere on stage !
We never had a worst concert so far..

The french scene is rich ! Scattered talents.. it lacks the cohesion to federate these resources.. Total support to BARABBAS, SUPERTZAR, PRESUMPTION, ATARAXIE, FUNERALIUM, CONVICTION, CARCOLH, HISPYN, GURU and many more !

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
