KRACHT - Planet Crash ? (Post-Punk - Interview with Ralph).
Express interview to help you discover as many of today's most interesting bands as possible - this time, KRACHT, Post-Punk from Germany - Interview with Ralph (Bass).

- Please introduce yourself and let me know how it all began with the band ?
We are a band of two guys, Falko and Ralph. We both come from southern Germany and have known each other since early youth. We have both always played in different bands. And we had a band together for several years. That band broke up in 2008. After years of making music in other bands, we came together in 2023 and started this band as a studio project. Why only studio ? We are both very busy. Falko plays guitar in the German punk band SICK OF SOCIETY, which plays a lot of live gigs. So we wanted to focus on making good music without the added stress of long sessions in the practice room and exhausting live gigs.
Another reason is that we both have very similar views on what our music should be like. How it should sound, what style it should have and how the lyrics should be written. For this reason, we also wanted to start this band as a duo project where no further compromises are needed.

- Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
We make guitar music at a time when guitar music is actually dead. Everywhere you come across the ruins of once great genres. A bit of punk here, a bit of indie there. There a wall of guitars, there again a crystal clear melody. We want that band to sound cool, urban and modern. Our music should push forward energetically. but at the same time be fragile and old school.

- Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ?
We have several influences from different genres, but especially punk and indie music of the past 20 years. Lyrics are in fact very important for us. We write lyrics about departure and termination. About the courage to take the first step and jump into cold water. But also about defeat and ruin, the failure to meet one's own expectations. It's mainly about stagnation and social coldness. But also about breaks, with conventions and with expectations.

- About your latest release ?
We just released our first album „Korridor“. It's available at all streaming plattforms (e.g. spotify). It was records between early 2023 and mid 2024. We spend a lot of time to create the sound that we had in mind. We also created some cool videos for six of the songs. The videos are available at YouTube.

- Future plans ?
We are very happy that the album is out now. It has been our main focus for the last few months. To be honest, we haven't talked about the next steps yet. But I'm sure we will continue. We are excited to see where the band will go next.

- Your most insane dream with the band would be ?
To get this band on stage one day. We haven't ruled out this option. Even though we don't have any concrete plans in this direction at the moment, a live concert would definitely be a cool thing.

- You're at the time a 2-piece band.... can we expect to see the band playing live with some additional memebers ? Is that somehting you have in mind ?
As mentioned before, we don't have any concrete plans. But if we play live, we will definitely need additional members. The music will be played as a live combo, without live samples.

- Some words on your local scene - bands you're friends with and you'd like to name ?
Of course we would like to mention SICK OF SOCIETY, the band Falko plays in. And if you want to hear cool german female fronted disco punk, than you should listen to the band BYRA*, another side project of SICK OF SOCIETY's other guitar player Chris.

- Last word is yours..
No last words. Just listen to the music !

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
