GERM BOMB - Atomic Punks ! (Metallic HardCore Punk - Interview with Pierre)

- Please introduce yourself and let me know how it all began with the band ? 
Hails from Pierre and Hampus of Germ Bomb, Gothenburg, Sweden! Germ Bomb has from the start 2009 been a 2 piece project with Hampus Kuylenstierna (guitar, vox) and Pierre Ohlsson(drums). For live shows we have had some help from our friends Jesper Viktorsson or Patrik "PK" Nilsson that jumped in and help us out with the bass.
We have played together in different bands for about 30 years now. The only past band worth mention is Hathor, punkrock band with our old friend Patrik "PK" Nilsson on bass. We sticked together for 10 years before Patrik left and we had to go ahead with somthing else, Germ Bomb was born! 

- Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
Not easy to describe our sound cos its all a blend of all music we listen to, we dont have any boundaries in genres or something like that. Maybe thats just the reason why you should listen to us , we dont try to sound as anything else. 
In the beginning some people categorized us as metalpunk, mainly with our debut album "Infected from birth" we have developed our sound since then and incorporated heavier parts along with atmosphere, different instruments and sounds.
In reviews people often mention very various bands to describe our sound, like Celtic Frost, Cortex, Amebix, Darkthrone or Killing Joke but that it still sounds like Germ Bomb wich is cool… a musical DNA!

- Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ? 
An endless inspiration for us lyrics wise is the nature of mankind, its greed that we think will destroy us all in the end! Also movies and books like Escape New York, The Road and Mad Max is a huge inspiration. Lyrics are really important, if youre gonna sing them properly you have to believe in them and stand behind them. No special messages and we are not so political, we are more into Lemmys words ”politicians are liars, it's their job” and we not fancy religion either. With that said we hate unjustice and stinking filthy rich pigs who think they can fuck people over.

- About your latest release ? 
"Monochrome Nightmare" was recorded in Kust studio Gothenburg during winter 2022/23 with Anders Borgh behind the knobbs, we are very happy with the result, mix was handled by Martin "Konie" Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, Pig eyes), he is the best! It was released both on vinyl-LP and digital in may this year through Doomentia Records and Insane Society Records, we are working on a cd edition right now. The artwork that we really like were made by incredible artist Bahrull Martha. Order LP through Doomentia Records, Insane society or our bandcamp page.

- Future plans ? 
We will move on and make new music and hopefully have some new shit released in the future. Play live as much as possible! 

- Your most insane dream with the band would be ?
Quit our dayjob and rock n roll instead! 

- Your BEST & WORST concert - as a band - and why ? 
I dont know if it is the best gig but our release gig for "Sound of Horns" (Doomentia) is a fine memory, we were back in our hometown Strömstad and everyone was there, old friends and people from back then involved in the musikscene, the gig was awesome and the party afterward was epic! 

- Next live-appearance(s) ?
Next booked show are at a club in Gothenburg called Dirty Deeds Rock Klubb, we will share stage with a cool band called The Inseminoids.

- Some words on your local scene - bands you're friends with and you'd like to name ? 
Can't claim that we are involved in any particular scene in Gothenburg these days. We had some really cool venues here before that we liked to go see band and meet up people but they had to shut down because of stupid polititians and gentrification and shit like that. Places like Truckstop Alaska that booked cool bands almost every weekend and were run by people who were there for the love of music and not for profit. The current government dont like people who do things for themselves, they only reward culture that brings the money, so the smaller cool venues disappear more and more. 
But there are still some punks that put up shows around gothenburg, for example the festival Fragile Mountain. And theres of course some cool bands here like Warhawk, The Inseminoids, We live in trenches, Unjustified Violence.
