EYES OF TOMORROW - Hardcore Music, Constant Life Force ! (Germany - Old School HardCore - Interview with Mirko & Chris).
Express interview to help you discover as many of today's most interesting bands as possible - this time, EYES OF TOMORROW, Old-School HardCore - Interview with Mirko (Vocals) & Chris (Bass).

Hello ! Can you introduce yourself and tell us how it all began for you - your encounter with this musical universe, what appealed to you, what fascinated you and what made you want to get into music?
Mirko : Hey, my name is Mirko and I do vocals for EOT. I grew up listening to what my brother liked, which was mainly metal and punk. In the eighties we discovered Maiden and stuff like that.  I the 90s I fell in love with melodic punk, mostly FatWreck and Epitaph Bands and went to shows almost every week. Good Times! Then started a band with friends, Which was more metal than punk. We only had a few gigs, but lots of fun.

Tell me about the band... How you met - the current line-up - past experiences - and above all - WHY the need to form THIS band?
Chris : Adam and Dom (our old guitar player) started the band together, both of them also played together before in a band called Blood of God, then brought in me, Chris! Adam and I have known each other for what feels like an eternity, we both had bands in the 90's that played together a lot and we had a band together in the early 2000's! After a while we were able to inspire Mirko, the three of us all knew him from his previous band FOREVER YOUNG VIKTORIA, which really strengthened us and brought us forward.
We’ve had a lineup change on guitars; our two former guitarists left the band for personal and time-related reasons. Fortunately, we then met Jens and Götz through Facebook. The two of them fit into the band perfectly and complement each other very well!
We formed this band because we love making music—because hardcore music has simply been, and continues to be, an important part of our lives for the last 30 years! The music, the message, PMA!

Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
Chris : Our sound—our musical style—is definitely quite old-school hardcore, but with a strong touch of the 90s hardcore aesthetic. You should definitely give our band a listen because, despite everything, our sound feels fresh rather than worn-out.

Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ?
Mirko: First, I try to match the rhythm of the part or a riff. Then the whole thing is filled with meaningful lyrics, without wanting to come across as too corny or resorting to the same old platitudes. The themes are sometimes personal and coded, but often they are things that affect us all.

About your latest release ?
Mirko: The album was recorded in 2024 in our own rehearsal studio and mixed and mastered by our old acquaintance, Christian Bloche. It has been available on vinyl and across all streaming platforms since March of this year—and will soon be available on CD as well.

Future plans ?
Mirko : Right now we are promoting the album and playing live shows.

Your most insane dream with the band would be ?
Mirko : In 2021, we were supposed to go on tour with the mighty Ryker’s—complete with a nightliner! I was looking forward to it like Christmas, but COVID ruined it for us. I think something like that would be fantastic!

Your BEST & WORST concert - as a band - and why ?
Chris : The best shows are actually always when we play right here in our home turf, the Ruhrpott. Of course, shows with Agnostic Front, Slapshot, and the like are always a highlight.
The worst shows were, of course, at the beginning, when we were still unknown. Sometimes it felt more like a live rehearsal.

Next live-appearance(s) ?
12.06. Darmstadt, Goldene Krone
29.08. Heerlen, Café Bluff
18.09.Nadwiljk, De Flatertheek
19.09. Gelsenkirchen, Kaue

Some words on your local scene - bands you're friends with and you'd like to name ?
Mirko : Right now, the scene is very vibrant. We are constantly discovering new, cool bands and helping each other out. You should definitely check out our friends TO THE WIRE, STAY FREE, GROUND 2 A, STRENGTH, ALIVE INSIDE,  47 MILLION DOLLARS  and LIFE BEYOND !

Last word is yours..
Mirko : Go to shows, be active, buy merch!

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI, AGNOSTIC FRONT... quickly leading him to explore THRASH METAL and CROSSOVER styles (SLAYER, EXODUS, KREATOR, VOIVOD, ANTHRAX, S.O.D., TESTAMENT...) and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Not to mention the DEATH-METAL/GRIND-CORE wave (DEATH, MORBID ANGEL, MORGOTH, NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER...)...
Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back !
