EMERGENCY BROADCAST - Resisting Together ! (England - HardCore Metal - Interview with Mel).

Hello ! Can you introduce yourself and tell us how it all began for you - your encounter with this musical universe, what appealed to you, what fascinated you and what made you want to get into music? 
The band was formed in Istanbul in 2016 by our drummer, Gigi. He had been a metalhead since the early 2000s, and during that time, he discovered Hatebreed and immediately connected with their sound. He was already writing music, and eventually hardcore became his genre of choice. Hardcore appealed to him not only musically, but also politically. The raw energy of hardcore shows was also a huge influence on him.

Tell me about the band... How you met - the current line-up - past experiences - and above all - WHY the need to form THIS band?
I joined the band as the lead singer in 2020 during the lockdown. I had also been a metal listener, but I was properly introduced to hardcore by my husband, Gigi. I was intrigued by the idea of being a vocalist, even though I had never sung in a band before. The lockdown became an opportunity for me to experiment and develop my own style.
Gigi and I moved to London in 2023. Our guitarist Alex joined the band in 2024, and our bassist Benediktas joined in 2025. The main reason this band was formed is to express our ideas.


 
Describe your sound and explain why I should listen to YOUR band at all cost ?
Our music is a mixture of different elements, including strong metallic influences, and our listeners come from a variety of musical backgrounds. We identify ourselves as a metallic hardcore band. Beyond the musical aspect, a core element of our music is the message and meaning behind the songs. Expressing ideas and conveying something meaningful through our lyrics is something we value deeply.

Lyrical and musical inspirations/influences ? How important are the lyrics for you ? Are there any specific messages or thoughts you try to develop and share through your lyrics ? 
The lyrics and messages are just as important as the music itself. We come from an activist background, and we do not separate our music from that. Especially in these times, we believe that art has become even more crucial as a way to deliver important and urgent messages to people.
These messages are not only about problems outside of us, but also about the inner transformation that revolution requires within ourselves.  We approach our music from an intersectional perspective, addressing themes such as ecofeminism, animal liberation, anti-capitalism, freedom, and struggles against oppression.

About the band's discography... Imagine someone who doesn't know your band at all and wants to get interested in.. Which release would you recommend to start with, and why? 
We released our first EP, "Untold Stories About Revenge", in 2016. This was followed by the album "Real Tal"e in 2017. After that came "Dirty All Over" in 2018, "Manipulation" in 2019, and "Bloody Books" in 2022. Our latest EP, "Make Them Pay", was released in February 202 which we would recommend checking out first.

About your latest release ? 
"Make Them Pay" was recorded at Monolith Studios in London in October 2025. The EP consists of five songs that were carefully selected to reflect its central theme: holding those who hold the power accountable. The artwork was created by our friend and illustrator Yağız Eyyişleyen. The EP can be purchased on Bandcamp and is also available on all streaming platforms.


 
Future plans ? 
We are currently working on a new single, which will most likely be released at the beginning of summer 2026.
 
Your most insane dream with the band would be ?
I don’t know if it sounds crazy, but touring worldwide would be pretty cool :) ("Crazy" .. not sure - but "awesome" - YES ! Ed.)
 
Your BEST & WORST concert - as a band - and why ? 
Our best show so far was in Southampton last year. The energy was crazy. Our worst might have been one gig in 2022 where the venue was awful, and they didn’t even provide water. I suspect that neither the promoter nor the venue has announced our gig.


 
Next live-appearance(s) ?
Our next announced shows are in Bermondsey with Dry Socket and Shooting Daggers on April 4th. On April 5th, we’ll be playing in Southampton at Last Breath Fest, and on April 8th, we’ll play in Cardiff with Tomar Control. More shows will be announced soon.
